What Lies Beneath
These striking original paintings will be sure to start a conversation when your friends visit. Visually exciting and mysterious, my aim was to create a multi layered piece showing history and patinas, like an old piece of furniture. Do you remember the old school desks with layers of childish graffiti, names carved into the wood and drawings all over it? I sure do! It started with a red/orange base layer which I painted over and scratched through to reveal the underlayers. This method uncovers things you didn’t always realise were there and I enjoy that element of surprise and spontaneity. My favourite colour combo is orange and blue and I use it a lot in my work.
Looks great as a pair with ‘The Deeper you Go’
48×48 cm on plyboard, un framed
