Who doesn’t love a bunch of red roses ? These roses appeared out of no where whilst painting this. To be honest I was a bit stuck. Then I noticed this splodge of red and it struck me, flowers! So I built on that one splodge very freely adding more streaks and splodges until I was happy. I didn’t want to over do it and make it too obvious and literal. But it’s all on one side…. yes that’s how it came about but to counteract that I added a fallen petal on the right to balance the painting a bit more, however, that slight imbalance makes it more interesting for me and the title reflects that. The vase had a lovely aged worn look about it, created by many layers of paint and scraping back and I love how it turned out.
